This piece exists in two timelines at once. One half is cast in patinated bronze, its surface carrying the weight of time, oxidation, and erosion. It feels excavated, like something recovered from the ground with a history already embedded in it. The other half is rendered in polished white gold, impossibly precise and reflective, almost synthetic in its perfection. Together they create a clean fracture through the bust, splitting the ancient from the contemporary, the artifact from the object. It is not just a contrast of materials, but a collision of eras held in a single form.

The chain extends that idea outward. It is not passive or secondary but integrated into the work itself, composed of miniature white gold hands that act as both structure and symbol. They hold, connect, and suspend the object, reinforcing the idea of human intervention across time. The piece becomes something worn but also something constructed, as if assembled through different moments in history. It sits between jewelry and an artifact, a relic that has not yet decided whether it belongs to the past or the future.

The necklace arrives in a custom box inspired by a Japanese bento case with a suede lining. The box itself becomes part of the artwork, designed to be reused and lived with, a container that extends the life of the piece beyond its first unveiling. Signed by Daniel Arsham, it is as much a sculptural object as it is packaging.

In keeping with the studio’s commitment to craft, each necklace follows a dedicated production timeline of 12 weeks, ensuring meticulous execution of both the sculptural form and chain. Necklaces from this edition will be completed and delivered by August 7, 2026.
